Magnetic particle examination has two primary objectives:
1. To identify manufacturing flaws, such as laminations, forging laps, inclusions etc in new components and welds.
2. To identify cracks that may have developed due to fatigue in service.
Washing and cleaning.
All equipment coming off the shaft is first washed, cleaned, and shot blast.
